The St. Agnes Anglican Church Youth Council's annual Thanksgiving Service took place on Sunday 27th October, 2013 at the St. Agnes Anglican Church in St. James. The theme portrayed was 'Forward Ever in God's Service'.  The chief celebrant was our very own Rev'd. Marsha Joseph.  Fortunately on this same day The Girl Guides Association, St. James District was celebrating their 100th anniversary of association and decided to have their service with us.

In preparation for this event, we did many activities. Every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday @ 4:30pm the group met to practice dance, singing and discussed the format of the service.  On Friday 25th - Saturday 26th October, 2013 both the youth and adult facilitators of the Youth Council gathered at Christ Church Rectory in St. Ann’s to participate in a brain relaxer and spirit building sleep over.  Here, we played bible games and did an activity to help us know each other better.  Rev'd. Pam did a meditation to relax us and set us in the frame of mind for the special day. We also practiced a little dance and singing. We left there with a positive attitude and mindset.

Everyone returned on Sunday morning ready to praise God.  The readings used were Jeremiah 14:7-10,19-22, Psalm 84:1-6, 2 Timothy 4:6-8,16-18 and the Gospel Luke 18:9-14. The sermon was done by Addiesya Perpignac (youth member) which was based on 1Timothy 4:1-12. Two dances were done: I Look to You and He Wants It All. The confession was done a bit different as we told the congregation to write their sins on a piece of paper and submerge it into a bowl of water on the altar to signify the drowning of their sins. In the end we sang the goodbye song from Out of the Box and everyone was invited to the hall for lunch.

It was a really great day!  We enjoyed ourselves with God in mind of course and would like to thank all those who participated and contributed in every way.

Worship….. What does it mean to you?

Being a fan of Gospel music, I was at dance practice one day going through songs. The idea immediately came to me for the theme for the Council’s annual concert where the members of the group can express themselves individually.  The initial idea of the concert was to let the members use their gifts and create an item for the concert that depicted what worship meant to them.
